Setting Course North

In the time it takes us to sail from Chicago to Racine, you could drive there and back-and get dinner. But that’s really not the point, right? For the next several weeks, we will be taking the slow “road” to the northern reaches of Lake Michigan. Then, depending on, oh so many factors, into either Lake Huron or Lake Superior. We will be taking the time to read anything but emails, sail, nap, fish and sample Debbie’s daily cocktail. We are incredibly grateful for this amazing opportunity to really get away, disconnect and enjoy time together. On our return, we will be adding a full entry to our collection of adventures.

While we have been back for almost 3 months now we still have those wandering feelings. The time we had to take our time, to read books! to stare where the sky meets water and connect. Connect with each other and with what is possible.

We traveled close to 1,000 nautical miles, dodged storms, anchored in gorgeous islands, pulled into slips, hiked shorelines, and evacuated due to a tornado siren. The fridge broke, we lost a halyard, bent a stanchion, and learned a hell of a lot. Through it all, we met wonderful people and saw the breadth of the possibilities of very different lives than the ones we see every day.

It would be almost impossible to retell every experience we had, so, we will leave you with pictures that will hopefully convey what we experienced.
